SGS & Co is seeking a Junior Packaging Project Manager to join us and manage our packaging artwork projects, for one of our highest profile, Paris based clients.

The successful candidate will fulfil the following Responsibilities:

Partner with the Account Manager and be a direct report for client’s marketing teams in the coordination of packaging / e-commerce development projects.
Ensure the daily coordination of the production: manage workflows, summarize information received from the customer, follow-up of the quality of the production, ensure deadlines are met.
Be a brand guardian by supporting client in terms of brand development and consistency
Act as Point of contact for technical aspects: participation in technical meetings (launch of range, contact with the printers, etc.), press passing, technical point of contact for proof management.
Gather, coordinate and communicate job-related information to production to ensure highest level of quality briefing is supplied
Schedule and see that deadlines are being met on all aspects of the project
Review artworks and print materials


Requirements:

High school diploma +4 / 5 years of higher education
At least 2 years of experience in the design, print or production art industry. Ideally experience or high interest on cosmetics sector.
Possess very good technical skills, excellent knowledge of the graphic chain and packaging (artwork and reprography), printing processes (offset, flexo, rotogravure), proofing and color management
Enjoy working on a team and have good interpersonal skills
Organized, rigorous and proactive.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Pack
Knowledge of Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop preferred
Native/Profesional French and conversational English required (B2)

Duties and responsibilities

Primary focus

• Create and QC digital artwork, following client and printer guidelines. Able to follow standard

packaging requirements, and apply technical specifications / die lines etc.

• Able to apply and check printer specifications, such as overprint, knockout, min dot, BWR.

• Able to follow tasks instructions and prepare / check Final Artwork, able to communicate and

raise any issues against guidelines/quality to Line Managers / Department Heads within our

organization.

• Be sure to understand the terminology associated within corporate, client’s brand guidelines

and operate within printed limitations.

• Creating separations, remapping of colors to proper separations, trapping, overprinting,

knockouts, imposition, bleeding and/or color correction, which require making independent

decisions regarding line screen and compensation curves using given parameters.

• Utilizing knowledge and understanding of the pre-press and printing capabilities of

equipment, determines style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects

• Works closely with pre-press and press department personnel to ensure that graphic

designs can be produced on existing equipment.

• Discusses graphics at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary to

ensure designs meet printer requirements and approval.

• Develop Proof – preparing a preview of art for the customer illustrating how the final art

• Complete Preflight activities – the process of reviewing digital files to insure the print

• Expert knowledge of all printing processes (litho / flex / digital / rotogravure / silkscreen)

retouching, GMG profiling.

• Manage and accept responsibility for all assigned personnel as they perform production related tasks

• Support to Develop and implement training programs to upgrade the skills of department associates, particularly those in entry-level positions

• Work with Quality Assurance to ensure that quality products are produced on a consistent

basis.

• Support and determine staffing requirements weekly and re-deploy resources during the

week as needed to address any shifting manning needs or changes in priorities and

scheduling.

• Smooth execution throughout the project and to ensure that work is delivered against the

communication objectives and graphics parameters;

• Analyse clients’ needs and expectations, communicate the client’s needs and expectations

We are looking for a Prepress Operator to join the team at SGS&Co. The role of Prepress Operator will be part of the production team and will help to execute packaging artworks. All artwork executions are coordinated to maintain the integrity of the approved designs and themes. The pre-press position provides preparation and application of printer’s technical specifications to pre-media packaging graphics files maintaining the highest level of quality and workmanship.

Role and Responsibilities:

· Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions, specifications, workflow diagrams, and SOPs
· Responsible for ensuring that all artworks are saved in designated file locations on the server with the appropriate document control file naming specifications
· Participate in process improvement efforts and various production meetings to foster a positive creative impact on the business.
· Pre-flight and Organization of Incoming Jobs
· Receive product definitions from sales, project managers, or production managers
· Manipulate files to match customer specs
· Add appropriate color control marks for graphics process control, printer registration marks, and ID marks to all press-ready files
· Output proofs as needed for internal checks and as specified on the order for customer review and approval
· Complete Job Quality Control Check
· Responsible for ensuring that all required checklist(s) are completed accordingly and in full, with any errors found subsequently corrected

Skills and Experience:

The Role:
Based at ourBoulogne-Billancourt site, the successful applicant will work as part of a busy and thriving reprographics department. They will be an integral part of the Print Conversion Team that specialises in the Flexographic printing process and will be expected to have experience creating single image repro files using Esko Packedge and complex step & repeat files using Esko Plato.
